At what age should my children know about sex? I've 2 children age 13 and 8. They watch a lot of movies and I wonder what goes in their head? I'll appreciate if anyone an help.

ideally sex education starts at birth....but it is always age appropriate and responsibly delivered.at 13 you can definitely have interactions with your child about this topic and then maybe over a casual conversation give him the correct scientific information related to sex.use scientific terminology during the conversation ( penis for *ick or making love or sexual intercourse instead of ...you know better...)..do not make it very significant and ask him what's going on in his head rather than wondering.........at 8 years, while watching a movie ...you can ask him ..."what do you think is going on."..casual conversations about gender differences or anything should be clarified...but preferably if asked for or if relevant to the situation....i hope i've answered your question....

Glad to know you are a resposible parent!!I agree with Dr deval. Please be as truthful as possible, using the right terms. Make sure you give age-specific information ( your 13 yr old may need more info eg. development of secondary sexual characteristics like body/ pubic hair, nightfall, attraction to girls, hormonal changes, etc). Don't be embarassed, and if you are uncomfortable, please provide proper reading material that will answer his questions.
